The Health Ministry is set to amend the laws concerning fraudulent doctors who have no qualifications in the medical field stating that a minimum fail sentence of five years should be given instead of the Rs.10,000 fine that is currently being implemented.The Health Ministry stated that there are around 50,000 people who pose as doctors in Sri Lanka.
Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena stated that there are many complications when these fake doctors as they have no knowledge or qualifications in the field and therefore should be punished strictly.
